Signs Your Sewer Line Needs Attention

It’s important to recognize the signs you may need residential sewer repair or other services, which include:

  • Multiple drains in your home are all slow to clear at the same time.
  • You hear gurgling or bubbling noises coming from your toilets or sinks when the water runs.
  • There’s visible waste or water backup in your tubs, showers, or basement floor drains.
  • The persistent odor of sulfur or rotten eggs is easily detectable near your drains.
  • You notice unusual, unexplained wet spots or soggy patches of grass in your lawn.
  • There’s a sudden increase in pests like insects or rodents, mostly near your exterior pipes or the main plumbing line
  • Your home’s foundation is suddenly cracking or shifting.

Common Causes of Sewer Line Problems

Several things may cause sewer line problems, including:

  • Tree roots: As tree roots seek the water flowing inside underground pipes, they start to push through tiny cracks, leading to a clogged sewer line or a major crack in the pipe structure.
  • Pouring food down drains: When you pour fat, oil, grease, coffee grinds, and starchy foods down the drain, it cools and hardens inside pipes, leading to serious blockages.
  • Flushing non-biodegradable items: Whenever you flush wet wipes, paper towels, and other non-flushable items down the toilet, it causes stubborn clogs that require professional sewer cleaning in Brooklyn Center, MN.
  • Older materials: Homes with aging pipes made of materials like concrete, clay, or cast iron eventually crack, rust, or become brittle.

Sewer Line Inspections With Camera Technology

Dean’s Home Services provides high-tech camera sewer inspections that detect clogs, leaks, or other issues in your pipes. Using state-of-the-art technology, these high-definition cameras go deep inside your pipes to find damage or hidden blockages. This reliable method provides a clear look at your sewer’s condition, and helps inform your solution options.

Sewer Cleaning for Stubborn Blockages

Stubborn blockages can lead to major plumbing issues and leaks that can cause costly damage to your home. Our professional sewer and drain cleaning services attack and remove clogs at the source. We use the latest tools and techniques to ensure that we get rid of blockages fast while restoring water flow.

Sewer Line Repair Solutions

Our sewer line repair in Brooklyn Center, MN, provides reliable solutions without damaging your yard and landscaping. Trenchless sewer repair is an effective, non-invasive broken sewer line repair method that uses small holes at either end of the damaged pipe to access and repair the pipes from within. We offer two main methods of trenchless broken sewer line repair:

  • Epoxy pipe lining: This method uses a flexible, epoxy-impregnated liner inserted into the pipe, which expands to form a new, rigid pipe once the epoxy cures.
  • Pipe bursting: This method uses a cable threaded through the existing sewer line that expands and breaks the pipe while dragging in a new polyethylene sewer line to fit inside the old pipe when the cable is drawn back through.

When Sewer Line Replacement Is the Best Option

Here are some scenarios where sewer line replacement in Brooklyn Center, MN, is a better option than repairs:

  • Your pipes are made of old cast iron or damaged clay that has reached the end of its lifespan.
  • The pipes are crushed, sunken, and fully collapsed and are unable to hold a new patch or liner.
  • You experience frequent clogs, multiple breaks in the pipes, or tree roots have invaded multiple lines.

Tree Root Damage and Sewer Lines

As trees mature, their roots seek underground water vapor and eventually invade tiny cracks in your sewer pipes or joints. This leads to a range of problems, including gurgling toilets, slow or blocked drains, and lush patches of grass in your lawn. We address tree root intrusion through various methods, including hydro jetting, trenchless main sewer line repairs, full sewer line replacements, and rooter services

How Minnesota Weather Can Affect Sewer Systems

Minnesota’s weather can affect your Brooklyn Center sewer system in several ways:

  • Soil movement: As soil thaws after heavy spring rains or winter snowfall, it causes the ground to shift, which can damage or collapse your main underground sewer line.
  • Freezing weather: When temperatures freeze, it can cause pipes to crack and break, leading to leaks and blockages.
  • Compacted snow: Heavy snow resting over sewer lines speeds up the formation of frost that stops wastewater from flowing properly.
  • Summer storms: Intense storms during Minnesota summers can drop heavy amounts of rain onto wastewater and stormwater infrastructure, leading to overflow and damage.
  • Dry spells: Long dry periods can cause soil around underground pipes to shrink and cause ground shifts that crack your sewer pipes.

Benefits of Routine Sewer Maintenance

The best way homeowners can prevent sewer problems is through routine professional maintenance. Regular sewer maintenance helps to prevent costly plumbing failures and eliminates pests and foul odors for a safer, cleaner home environment. It also extends the lifespan of your plumbing and sewer infrastructure while reducing repair costs and potential water damage from major leaks or stubborn drain clogs.

Customer Satisfaction is our #1 Priority What Dean’s Customers are saying
I recently bought a new house and quite a few things needed upgrading / replacing. Deans has done fantastic work on all these things. Scheduling is fast and easy. They are able to come out quickly to assess it and give an estimate. And they can quickly schedule the service. All the technicians have been fantastic. Friendly, and quick and efficient. I am so glad I am a member and I will recommend Deans to anyone. Mark B.
Matthew came for a general plumbing inspection. He was friendly and polite and even a little bit early for his appointment. That is a wonderful thing. He checked all the toilets and sinks, the water heater and water softener. All the while explaining what he was doing. He had some ideas on a few repairs but wasn't an alarmist about it. Things that just had to be done, sooner than later, but not immediately. The Dean's club membership is definitely worth it. Susan M.
Eric B was awesome and informative. Today he came and gave us a rundown of our new homes air ventilation and Furnace/AC systems so we are all ready for winter and beyond. We had Dean's install a new furnace, ac and water heater at our previous home and they did such a wonderful job and so easy to work with we will only use them from now on. Thanks again for a wonderful experience. Jayme K.
I had Dean's come out a couple times for different services. Once to install venting for a bath fan and once for service for my furnace. There were no surprises in pricing and service was quick. Sam was the tech both times and he did a great job for both jobs. For the furnace, he diagnosed the issue within minutes of starting the work and got it up and running quickly. They had all the parts in the truck already. As far as the appointment, I requested service online, had a call back within 15 min and the tech was in my driveway an hour later. I would highly recommend Dean's. Dan P.
Of the several electricians I contacted, Dean's offered by far the quickest dispatch time, which is great because my thermostat broke and wouldn't start my A/C at all. Given that temperatures are supposed to reach 98 degrees tomorrow, time was of the essence. Thankfully, Dean's had someone out within an hour. I worked with Seth, who was professional, helpful and knowledgeable. He ran a 'C' wire to our new smart thermostat and got it installed in about an hour at a reasonable price. I will definitely recommend Dean's to anyone who needs an electrician. Michael Y.
