Why Does My Heating System Make So Much Noise?
Soon, we’ll be turning on our heating systems for the cool months ahead. Is your system prepped for the winter? If you turn up the heat and find that your heating system is making strange popping and clicking noises, here are a few possible reasons why your HVAC is extra noisy this year.
Noisy Heating System Causes:
- Air Bubbles – When air bubbles are trapped in your heating system, they can expand and contract, causing clicking noises to come from your heating system. Fortunately, this is a simple fix. You will need to “bleed” your radiator to release the air bubbles.
- Expansion – When cold pipes heat up, they expand and move. As the pipes move, they might make a popping sound, especially if they are pressed up against anything hard in the home.
- Limescale – Homes that have hard water might notice that limescale is building up inside of their boiler. This is a more serious home heating problem, as limescale buildup can reduce the lifespan of your home heating system. Give us a call if you have limescale buildup in your boiler!
