Reasons Your an AC Leaking Water
- Your Filter is Clogged – If your filter is dirty, the air won’t be moving efficiently through your system. This can cause ice to form on your unit’s evaporator coils. When the ice melts, you’ll see a puddle of water underneath it. Check your filters periodically (about once a month) to make sure that your filter is not clogged and that the unit is working efficiently.
- The Overflow Pan is Damaged – The overflow pan is designed to catch any condensation from your air conditioning unit. This is especially important on hot, humid days! If there are small holes or cracks in your overflow pan, you may notice the water leaking through
- The Condensate Line is Clogged – This is the most common cause of air conditioner leaks. When the condensate line is clogged, water will back up and flood the overflow pan.
