Garage & Workshop Heater Installation

Proudly Serving the Twin Cities of Minneapolis & St. Paul for 25+ Years

Minnesota winters can be exceptionally tough. Frigid temperatures, short days, and even colder nights can make it much more difficult to use certain areas of your home, like your garage or workshop. Your furnace, boiler, or other heating system keeps your home warm during the winter, but may not heat a garage or detached workshop.

A heater made for workshops and garages can make the cold winters much more bearable, and restore areas of your home so they can be used all year.

At Dean’s Home Services, we’re proud to provide garage and workshop heater installations in the Twin Cities and nearby. Our natural gas heaters are the perfect addition to your workshop, garage, or warehouse.

Stay warm and comfortable during harsh Minneapolis winters with our expert garage heater installation services. Don’t let the cold stop you — contact us today for a cozy and efficient heating solution for your garage.

The Benefits of Installing a Garage Heater

A garage heater makes the harsh weather in Minnesota a bit more bearable. More importantly, a heated garage can help your vehicle start more smoothly, putting a stop to hard starts and associated cold-weather engine problems.

It also does away with the need to warm up your car — and carbon monoxide emissions that can accumulate in the process.

Why get a garage heater?

With a heated garage, you can help your vehicle start more smoothly, preventing hard starts and associated cold-weather engine problems. As a garage heater is often an integral part of home heating, it can also greatly improve your home’s comfort.

If your garage shares a connecting wall with other rooms, you might find it sucks the heat out of the building. Installing a garage heater will keep the space warmer, meaning less heat loss through connecting walls.

We can help you choose or just install or replace any brand of garage heating unit.

Choosing the Right Space Heater for Your Garage or Workshop

Single-car garages up to 450 square feet should use a garage heater with 6,800 to 9,000 BTUs. Two-car garages between 450 and 700 square feet need a heater with 12,000 to 24,000 BTUs. Garages that can fit three or more cars need a heater with 24,000 to 31,000 BTUs.

Minnesota Garage Heater FAQs

How much does it cost to heat a garage?

It depends on the size of your garage and how well-insulated it is, but generally, it will cost more to heat a garage than a typical living space. This is because garages are typically larger and have less insulation than a home.

If you’re using a space heater to heat your garage, you may find that it takes longer to heat up the space and that it doesn’t maintain a consistent temperature as well.

How many BTUs to heat a garage?

A rough estimate for a small (one-car) garage in a moderate climate would be around 10,000 BTUs, while a larger (two-car) garage in a colder climate could require up to 20,000 BTUs. Ultimately, the best way to determine the necessary BTUs is to consult with a heating specialist.

Does Dean’s Home Services install garage heaters?

Yes. Our HVAC professionals can install any brand of garage heaters and sell Hawt Dawg heaters.

Can a patio heater be used in a garage?

Technically, yes, but we do NOT recommend it. A few things to keep in mind. First, the patio heater will need to be properly ventilated so it doesn’t overheat and cause a fire.

Second, the patio heater will need to be placed away from any flammable materials, such as gasoline or other chemicals. Lastly, it’s important to have a fire extinguisher on hand in case of an emergency.

Customer Satisfaction is our #1 Priority What Dean’s Customers are saying
I recently bought a new house and quite a few things needed upgrading / replacing. Deans has done fantastic work on all these things. Scheduling is fast and easy. They are able to come out quickly to assess it and give an estimate. And they can quickly schedule the service. All the technicians have been fantastic. Friendly, and quick and efficient. I am so glad I am a member and I will recommend Deans to anyone. Mark B.
Matthew came for a general plumbing inspection. He was friendly and polite and even a little bit early for his appointment. That is a wonderful thing. He checked all the toilets and sinks, the water heater and water softener. All the while explaining what he was doing. He had some ideas on a few repairs but wasn't an alarmist about it. Things that just had to be done, sooner than later, but not immediately. The Dean's club membership is definitely worth it. Susan M.
Eric B was awesome and informative. Today he came and gave us a rundown of our new homes air ventilation and Furnace/AC systems so we are all ready for winter and beyond. We had Dean's install a new furnace, ac and water heater at our previous home and they did such a wonderful job and so easy to work with we will only use them from now on. Thanks again for a wonderful experience. Jayme K.
I had Dean's come out a couple times for different services. Once to install venting for a bath fan and once for service for my furnace. There were no surprises in pricing and service was quick. Sam was the tech both times and he did a great job for both jobs. For the furnace, he diagnosed the issue within minutes of starting the work and got it up and running quickly. They had all the parts in the truck already. As far as the appointment, I requested service online, had a call back within 15 min and the tech was in my driveway an hour later. I would highly recommend Dean's. Dan P.
Of the several electricians I contacted, Dean's offered by far the quickest dispatch time, which is great because my thermostat broke and wouldn't start my A/C at all. Given that temperatures are supposed to reach 98 degrees tomorrow, time was of the essence. Thankfully, Dean's had someone out within an hour. I worked with Seth, who was professional, helpful and knowledgeable. He ran a 'C' wire to our new smart thermostat and got it installed in about an hour at a reasonable price. I will definitely recommend Dean's to anyone who needs an electrician. Michael Y.
