Dean’s Home Services is a family-owned company that’s licensed, bonded, and insured in Minnesota, where we’ve been serving all makes and models of furnaces since 1996.

Our heating services are available 24/7, and when you call, you’ll speak with a real person who understands the urgency of your needs and will schedule you accordingly.

Signs Your Furnace Needs Repair

Some furnace problems are obvious. Others start small and get worse fast. Look out for:

  • No heat: Your furnace won’t turn on or isn’t producing heat.
  • Cold air: The blower is running, but the air coming from the vents isn’t warm.
  • Short cycling: The furnace keeps starting and stopping every few minutes.
  • Higher gas bills: Your usage hasn’t changed, but your heating costs have.
  • Uneven heating: Some rooms stay cold while others get too warm.
  • A yellow burner flame: A healthy gas furnace flame should generally be blue. A yellow or flickering flame can indicate a combustion problem and should be checked.

Common Furnace Problems We Repair

Many calls for home furnace repair in Brooklyn Center involve problems with the same components, including flame sensors, igniters, thermostats, blower motors, limit switches, and clogged filters.

If your furnace is not heating in Brooklyn Center, start with the basics. Check that your thermostat is set to heat, the temperature is set correctly, and the furnace has power. If everything looks right and you’re still without heat, it’s time to call in the experts.

Why Your Furnace Is Blowing Cold Air

A furnace blowing cold air in Brooklyn Center doesn’t always mean something major has failed. The thermostat fan may be set to ON instead of AUTO, which keeps the blower running even between heating cycles. Other common causes include a dirty flame sensor, a failed igniter, or an interrupted gas supply.

What Causes Furnace Noises

Your furnace shouldn’t suddenly start making loud or unusual noises. If it does, the noise can help us start to diagnose the issue:

  • Banging or a small boom at startup: The burners may be igniting late, which can cause a small gas buildup before ignition. This needs attention.
  • Squealing: A worn blower motor or belt may be responsible.
  • Rattling: Something may be loose, or a motor component could be wearing out.
  • Clicking without ignition: A failing igniter or dirty flame sensor may be preventing the furnace from lighting. We also offer furnace ignition repair in Brooklyn Center homes.

Gas and Electric Furnace Repair Solutions

It’s common for homes in the area to use natural gas furnaces. Most gas furnace repair in Brooklyn Center involves the burners, igniter, flame sensor, gas valve, or venting.

For electric furnace repair in Brooklyn Center, we usually need to address heating elements, sequencers, contactors, or electrical connections.

A licensed professional should handle all gas and electric repairs.

How Minnesota Winters Affect Furnace Performance

Our long, cold heating season puts a lot of strain on our furnaces, especially after a heavy winter storm. Keep an eye out for:

  • Snow blocking the intake or exhaust pipes: A blockage trips the pressure switch and shuts the furnace down as a safety measure.
  • Ice building up around the vent openings: Ice forms from the exhaust plume and can seal a pipe even when the snow has been cleared.
  • Drifting against the foundation: A plow or a roof slide may have piled snow over the pipes without you noticing.
  • Frozen condensate lines: Frozen lines, particularly in unheated basements, crawlspaces, and garages, can trigger a shutdown.
  • Blocked exterior fresh air intakes: A gas furnace needs air to burn. Restricted intake causes incomplete combustion and poses a real risk of carbon monoxide.

If problems continue even after you’ve cleared any blockages, contact us for heating system repair in Brooklyn Center as soon as possible.

What to Expect During a Furnace Repair Visit

Scheduling a furnace service in Brooklyn Center can be stressful. You can trust Dean’s Home Services to find the problem, show you what we’ve found, and clearly explain your options. You’ll also get a firm price to approve before we begin any repairs.

Our vans carry common parts so that we can complete many repairs during the first visit. Also, our technicians use floor mats and shoe covers and clean up when the work is completed, leaving your home as we found it, just with a working furnace.

Keep Your Furnace Running Efficiently

You can help keep your furnace running efficiently and reduce the risk of breakdowns by changing the filter every one to three months, keeping supply and return vents clear, and making sure snow and ice aren’t blocking the furnace’s outdoor pipes.

Annual furnace maintenance allows us to clean the system, check its components, and repair or replace worn parts. We also fix leaks, ductwork issues, and poor airflow to improve comfort and reduce strain on the system.

Dean’s Club members receive annual system checks, 10% off furnace repairs throughout Brooklyn Center, MN, priority scheduling, and no travel charges, making it easier to keep up with maintenance each year.

When to Repair or Replace Your Furnace

Most furnaces last around 15 to 20 years. If yours is younger and the repair is reasonably priced, residential furnace repair in Brooklyn Center usually makes sense.

If the heat exchanger is cracked, breakdowns are becoming more frequent, energy bills keep climbing, or the furnace can no longer keep your home comfortable, repairs may no longer be cost-effective. You could face a complete failure during a Minnesota cold snap, and it’s time to consider replacement

Common Airflow Problems That Affect Furnaces

Many homes here were built in the 1950s and 1960s with a single central return vent, which was fine when the air could flow back under the doors to the furnace. Since then, carpets, finished basements, and additions have all restricted that airflow, making furnaces work harder and causing them to overheat and shut down.

A dirty filter can have the same effect, and we recommend replacing this inexpensive part regularly to prevent much more costly broken furnace repairs in Brooklyn Center.

Customer Satisfaction is our #1 Priority What Dean’s Customers are saying
I recently bought a new house and quite a few things needed upgrading / replacing. Deans has done fantastic work on all these things. Scheduling is fast and easy. They are able to come out quickly to assess it and give an estimate. And they can quickly schedule the service. All the technicians have been fantastic. Friendly, and quick and efficient. I am so glad I am a member and I will recommend Deans to anyone. Mark B.
Matthew came for a general plumbing inspection. He was friendly and polite and even a little bit early for his appointment. That is a wonderful thing. He checked all the toilets and sinks, the water heater and water softener. All the while explaining what he was doing. He had some ideas on a few repairs but wasn't an alarmist about it. Things that just had to be done, sooner than later, but not immediately. The Dean's club membership is definitely worth it. Susan M.
Eric B was awesome and informative. Today he came and gave us a rundown of our new homes air ventilation and Furnace/AC systems so we are all ready for winter and beyond. We had Dean's install a new furnace, ac and water heater at our previous home and they did such a wonderful job and so easy to work with we will only use them from now on. Thanks again for a wonderful experience. Jayme K.
I had Dean's come out a couple times for different services. Once to install venting for a bath fan and once for service for my furnace. There were no surprises in pricing and service was quick. Sam was the tech both times and he did a great job for both jobs. For the furnace, he diagnosed the issue within minutes of starting the work and got it up and running quickly. They had all the parts in the truck already. As far as the appointment, I requested service online, had a call back within 15 min and the tech was in my driveway an hour later. I would highly recommend Dean's. Dan P.
Of the several electricians I contacted, Dean's offered by far the quickest dispatch time, which is great because my thermostat broke and wouldn't start my A/C at all. Given that temperatures are supposed to reach 98 degrees tomorrow, time was of the essence. Thankfully, Dean's had someone out within an hour. I worked with Seth, who was professional, helpful and knowledgeable. He ran a 'C' wire to our new smart thermostat and got it installed in about an hour at a reasonable price. I will definitely recommend Dean's to anyone who needs an electrician. Michael Y.
