Why Won’t My Air Conditioning System Turn On?
There is nothing worse than being without air conditioning on a hot day. If you’re A/C won’t turn on today — don’t worry! There might be a simple solution. Here are a few reasons why you might be experiencing problems with your air conditioning system.
Why Your A/C Won’t Turn On
1. Check the Power
Take a look at the electrical panel in your home and make sure that it is turned on — and that there’s power running to your air conditioning system.
2. Look at the Thermostat
Make sure that your thermostat is set to “cool.” If your thermostat is still set to heat, it won’t turn on. You should also check the temperature on your thermostat. Make sure that you are setting the temperature low enough for the air conditioning system to turn on.
3. Change Your Air Filter
A dirty, clogged air filter will keep your air conditioner from working properly. It will block airflow and cause your system to freeze.
4. Clean the Condensate Drain
Use a wet/dry vacuum to clear your condensate drain. If this drain is clogged, your air conditioning system will shut down to prevent damage.
