Signs You Need Furnace Repair in Bloomington

Some common signs that you need our furnace repair services in Bloomington include:

  • No heat: A furnace running without heat may indicate ignition issues, faulty sensors, a dirty air filter, or an improperly set thermostat.
  • Strange or loud noises: Sounds like grinding, banging, screeching, and booming all indicate a furnace problem that should not be ignored, like a faulty igniter, worn or loose components, or poor airflow.
  • Bad smells: Bad smells from your heater may indicate gas or CO₂ leaks, electrical problems, overheating, mold growth in the vents, or simply burning dust.
  • Short cycling: A furnace that turns on and off rapidly could indicate airflow issues or an improperly sized furnace.
  • Water leaks: If water is leaking from your furnace, it indicates an internal component is damaged or clogged.

Furnace Repair vs. Furnace Replacement

When your furnace is approaching the end of its life expectancy (15 to 30 years, depending on the type of heater and how well it’s been maintained), it can be difficult to know whether to schedule another repair call or consider replacement. If you’re wondering whether it’s time for an upgrade or if it’s smarter to fix the furnace again, you can ask yourself the following questions:

  • Is it still meeting my home heating needs? If your furnace no longer keeps your home consistently warm and struggles to meet your desired temperature, it may be time for replacement.
  • How much have I spent on repairs lately? If your furnace requires frequent repairs, or if your next repair will cost more than 50% of a new unit’s cost, it may make financial sense to upgrade the system.
  • Is it running efficiently? Worn-out parts and an aging system will decline in efficiency, wasting energy and raising your utility bills.

Not sure what to do? Call Dean’s Home Services. We’ll provide a comprehensive inspection, checking not only for current issues but also for potential future problems, then provide you with our professional, unbiased recommendations.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the most expensive part to fix on a furnace?

The most expensive part to repair in a furnace is usually the heat exchanger. This part transfers heat from burning fuel to the air in your home while serving as a safety barrier, keeping dangerous gases such as carbon monoxide out of the air you breathe. It’s a complex and vital component, typically located deep within the furnace, making any repair or replacement a labor-intensive project.

Does Dean’s offer financing for furnace repair?

Yes! Big repair jobs or furnace replacements don’t need to deplete your life savings. At Dean’s Home Services, we offer financing solutions for qualifying customers, with affordable payment plans that suit your budget.

Does furnace repair improve energy efficiency?

Yes, keeping your furnace in good repair, with properly calibrated settings, lubricated parts, and clean internal components, will help it run at maximum efficiency. Not only will this reduce your environmental impact, but it can also lower your utility bills.

How much does furnace repair cost in Bloomington?

Your furnace repair costs will depend on factors such as the complexity of the repairs, whether parts need to be replaced, and the time required to complete the job. At Dean’s Home Services, we provide our customers with transparent price quotes after an initial diagnosis. We’ll let you know exactly what to expect before we begin.

How to prevent costly furnace repairs?

The best way to prevent costly furnace repairs is to schedule regular maintenance. We recommend having your furnace serviced at least once a year, ideally in the fall before cold weather arrives. Maintenance includes a comprehensive safety inspection, tune-up, cleaning, and lubrication to prepare your home furnace for winter.

Customer Satisfaction is our #1 Priority What Dean’s Customers are saying
I recently bought a new house and quite a few things needed upgrading / replacing. Deans has done fantastic work on all these things. Scheduling is fast and easy. They are able to come out quickly to assess it and give an estimate. And they can quickly schedule the service. All the technicians have been fantastic. Friendly, and quick and efficient. I am so glad I am a member and I will recommend Deans to anyone. Mark B.
Matthew came for a general plumbing inspection. He was friendly and polite and even a little bit early for his appointment. That is a wonderful thing. He checked all the toilets and sinks, the water heater and water softener. All the while explaining what he was doing. He had some ideas on a few repairs but wasn't an alarmist about it. Things that just had to be done, sooner than later, but not immediately. The Dean's club membership is definitely worth it. Susan M.
Eric B was awesome and informative. Today he came and gave us a rundown of our new homes air ventilation and Furnace/AC systems so we are all ready for winter and beyond. We had Dean's install a new furnace, ac and water heater at our previous home and they did such a wonderful job and so easy to work with we will only use them from now on. Thanks again for a wonderful experience. Jayme K.
I had Dean's come out a couple times for different services. Once to install venting for a bath fan and once for service for my furnace. There were no surprises in pricing and service was quick. Sam was the tech both times and he did a great job for both jobs. For the furnace, he diagnosed the issue within minutes of starting the work and got it up and running quickly. They had all the parts in the truck already. As far as the appointment, I requested service online, had a call back within 15 min and the tech was in my driveway an hour later. I would highly recommend Dean's. Dan P.
Of the several electricians I contacted, Dean's offered by far the quickest dispatch time, which is great because my thermostat broke and wouldn't start my A/C at all. Given that temperatures are supposed to reach 98 degrees tomorrow, time was of the essence. Thankfully, Dean's had someone out within an hour. I worked with Seth, who was professional, helpful and knowledgeable. He ran a 'C' wire to our new smart thermostat and got it installed in about an hour at a reasonable price. I will definitely recommend Dean's to anyone who needs an electrician. Michael Y.
