Keep Your Children Safe In The Bathroom!
Posted on February 5th, 2015 by Dean's Plumbing
Rub-A-Dub-Dub, three kids in the tub! For some of us it’s a nightmare to get our kids into the bathtub and for others, they don’t even have to ask twice. Whatever category you fall into, keeping your kids safe in the bathroom should be the number one priority.
- Never leave a young child alone in the bath. Children can drown in just a few inches of water. If you must leave the bathroom for any reason during your child’s bath, wrap them in a towel and bring them with you.
- Keep the water temperature under 120℉ to prevent burning. If you’re unsure of how hot the water will be, adjust your hot water heater. When your child becomes old enough to turn on the water, teach them to turn on the cold water first.
- Put a no-slip bath mat in the tub and cover the water faucet with a cushion so your child won’t get hurt if he or she happens to bump their head. Another important safety feature you may want to consider is a toilet lid lock. This will prevent your child from falling in or playing with the water out of curiosity.
- Keep all medicines and electrical appliances out of your child’s reach. This includes hair dryers and razors which can be extremely harmful to a child.
