Preparing Your Plumbing For Guests

Tag: North Metro Plumber

Throwing a graduation party for your recent grad this summer? There are a few things you should consider doing around your house before the guests arrive to make sure everything goes smoothly. After all, there’s nothing worse than having a clogged toilet or a backed up drain with a house full of people.

Clean The Fixtures

You don’t want your guests to have use a bathroom with dirty fixtures right? In addition to making a better appearance, using vinegar to clean sinks and shower heads will maximize water flow and prevent backups.

Check The Toilets

It’s wise to perform a few test flushes before your guests show up. Take note of the water pressure and make sure the flappers and valves are working properly.

Take Caution When Using The Garbage Disposal

Whenever you are entertaining, there is bound to be more garbage. Keep in mind that all meat and other food products should be tossed in the trash and not down the disposal. You may also want to pour some vinegar in there to clean it out.

“Ejection pump was not working called Tammy S and she sent Andrew H. Andrew had to do an emergency call at 7:30pm showed up with a smile. Helped to get pump working again where we were allowed to see if this would do the fix instead of replacing. Everything worked well for the rest of the night.

Called the next day and Adam F. sent Brad V. to replace ejection pump. Everything is working fine with new pump and continues to be a great relief.

Both Andrew and Brad were very respectful, answered all our questions and also gave good suggestions. We are happy to put this project behind us. Also feel peace of mind with a warranty. Great Job Team of Four!!!!”

Hang tight Minneapolis, you’ll only have to worry about freezing pipes for a few more days. But just in case you haven’t done so already, find out what you need to do in order to prevent this major plumbing disaster – a pipe burst.

  • If you have any pipes that are exposed to the outdoors, or freezing temperatures, make sure that they’re properly insulated.
  • Make sure your traps are turned on. Pressure builds up inside your pipes and if there’s no place for the water to go, it could freeze.
  • Wait until the weather is consistently above freezing to turn on the hose in your backyard. Turning the water valve on prematurely can also cause your pipes to freeze.

If your pipes are already frozen, your best bet is to call a plumber right away. Tampering with them can cause a bigger problem and this should be left to a professional. That’s where we come in!

Call on Dean’s Professional Plumbing, Heating, Air & Drains for all of your plumbing needs. We have over 35 years of industry experience and our specialists have the knowledge necessary to handle any problem.

How far back does radiant floor heating date? You may be thinking that it hasn’t been around for very long but that actually isn’t the case! Radiant floor heating dates all the way back to the ancient Romans who used circulating warm water underneath their marble floors. Pretty cool, right? We think so.

Given the long history of radiant floor heating, hearing myths about it is common. We’ll set a few things straight below:

Myth: Electrical floor heating is difficult to install.

Fact: In actuality, heating mats can be mounted to any floor, old or new. No matter the type of subfloor, installation time will be just about the same.

Myth: Radiant floor heating can only be used in the bathroom.

Fact: Once again, this is not the case. Radiant floor heating can be used in just about any room of the house and it’s energy efficient.

Myth: A fault means you have to rip up the entire floor.

Fact: Most floor heating options are built to last for a very long time. In a case where too much moisture gets underneath the floor, the problem can be pinpointed to within just a few centimeters so there is no need to rip up the entire floor.

Radiant floor heating systems offer a feeling of warmth and comfort that gets directly to the center of our bodies. Give Dean’s Professional Plumbing, Heating, Air & Drains a call today to find out more information.
