Flowers are blooming, birds are chirping and the sun is shining (well, sometimes). Spring is finally here! But that means it’s time to get your home’s plumbing system in order after the long winter. Here are a few things you can do around your home to get your plumbing ready as the weather starts to warm up:
Turn On The Hose
Chances are you shutdown your outdoor hoses for the winter to avoid freezing pipes, but now it’s time to turn it back on. Make sure to check your hose bibs for leaks because freezing temperatures can cause them to crack during the winter.
Check The Sump Pump
Now that the snow has melted and April showers are hanging around, it’s vital to make sure your sump pump is working properly. You can test it by pouring a few buckets of water into the sump pit – it should kick on within a few seconds. If it doesn’t, give us a call right away.
Inspect Your Toilet
Check your toilets to make sure they are working correctly. This includes checking the handle to make sure they are flushing properly and keeping an eye out for leaks. How can you check for leaks? Put a few drops of food coloring in the tank and if it’s leaking, you’ll see it in the bowl shortly after.
