How to Prevent Clogged Drains During Your Summer BBQ

There is nothing better than a summertime BBQ with friends and family. When inviting guests over and prepping your favorite grilled foods, the health of your plumbing system is likely a far thought in the back of your mind.

However, many BBQ foods can cause plumbing problems. Here are a few tips to help you prevent a slow draining sink drain during your summer BBQ.

How to Prevent Clogged Drains:

  • Throw Away Grease – Although grease may look like a liquid, it will harden and stick to the sides of your plumbing pipes when it cools. Be sure to dispose of grease in a closed container, rather than letting it go down the drain.
  • Keep Rib Bones Out of Your Disposal –If ribs are part of your BBQ, don’t put the bones down your garbage disposal. They can bend and damage the disposal blades.
  • Avoid Putting Macaroni Salad in the Disposal – Macaroni salad, potato salad, and other starchy foods should also be kept out of your disposal. These foods can expand when wet and leave you with a clogged or slow draining sink.

If you experience any problems with your home’s drains this summer, give our office a call! Our technicians are here to help you keep your home plumbing running smoothly.
