Home Cooling Tips That Save Energy and Cool Your Home More Efficiently

WHAT ARE SOME HOME COOLING TIPS THAT SAVE MONEY?

While the summer months can be full of outdoor BBQs, time spent by the pool, and days at the park, we sometimes need relief from the heat. Unfortunately, our wallets don’t always love the cost of keeping our homes cool. Here are a few tips to help you cool your home more efficiently for less this summer.

Home Cooling Advice

  • Check Your Air Filters – Make sure that your air filters are clean! A dirty air filter can make your air conditioning system work over time.
  • Keep Your Blind Closed – Keep your blinds closed when you leave for work for the day. This will help keep the hot summer sun from heating up your home when you’re not around.
  • Invest in a Programmable or Smart Thermostat – Programmable thermostats allow you to change your home’s temperature when you’re there — and when you’re not. If you want to step it up a level, invest in a smart thermostat. These thermostats learn your habits for you! If you are prone to turning down the thermostat each night, your smart thermostat will learn — and lower it for you.
  • Have Your Ceiling Fan Rotate Counter-Clockwise – Did you know that your ceiling fans should be set to counter-clockwise rotations during the summer months? This creates a wind-chill breeze effect that will make you feel cooler.
