What Is The Best Toilet Bowl Cleaner?

plumbing repair | dean's professional plumbing, heating, air & drainsYour toilet is one of the dirtiest places in your home — and it’s often also the least favorite spot to clean. But before you rush out to the store to pick up a toilet cleaner, you’ll want to keep a few things in mind. Here are a few toilet cleaning do’s and dont’s.

Avoid This:

Drop in cleaners –

Drop in cleaners may turn your toilet a pretty blue, but they can also damage your plumbing system. These tablets often contain harmful chemicals that can eat away at the rubber parts of your toilet bowl. They can also get stuck in your toilet valve, preventing you from flushing.

Bleach tablets –

Bleach tablets are also highly corrosive. They will eat away at your toilet flapper, leading to water waste and damaged parts.

Do This:

Keep it natural –

Vinegar: Just reach for some distilled white vinegar. Pour one cup into your tank and the acids will naturally dissolve any mineral buildup inside. You can also pour a cup into the bowl itself. Swish the vinegar around with a brush and let it sit. Flush when done

Baking soda: Baking soda is a great way to naturally remove toilet stains. Add about a cup (with another one or two cups of vinegar) to your bowl. Let it sit and scrub the stains away.
