Air Conditioning FAQs

Summertime brings with it more than just sunshine. There’s a sharp increase in pollen and air pollution and we can’t forget about unbearable heat and humidity. As a result, our air conditioning systems have to work hard to keep us comfortable and cool.

Here are a few questions about air conditioning we get asked pretty frequently – maybe you have the same concerns:

Q: Why should I be worried about my air indoors, I thought pollution was outside.

A: The efficient, airtight homes we live in today are excellent at conserving energy, but that also makes them better at trapping potentially irritating particles inside your home. If you suffer from allergies and/or asthma, indoor air quality has become more important to our general health and well-being.

Q: Is a large air-conditioner better than a smaller unit?

A: Not necessarily.  A larger air conditioner will always use more electricity as well as cost more to install and upkeep.  The consideration should be finding the proper size air-conditioning unit that will provide the efficient energy use and the most comfort. Call Dean’s, we can help you make that determination.

Q: Does Dean’s Professional Plumbing carry anything to help control the humidity in my house?

A: Yes, humidity can be a problem in any home.  The best way to control excessive humidity is to have a system installed that runs to control the humidity with your home.  We carry humidification and dehumidification systems to keep the indoor air at a comfortable level.
