Air Conditioning FAQ

It’s difficult to think about summer heat settling in with the long, cold winter we endured. But you’ll be running your air conditioners at full blast before you know it and you may have some questions about your cooling system. We understand that your lives don’t revolve around air conditioning like ours do, so we’re sharing some frequently asked questions with you:

Q: Why should I be worried about my air indoors, I thought pollution was outside.

A: The efficient, airtight homes we live in today are excellent at conserving energy, but that also makes them better at trapping potentially irritating particles inside your home. If you suffer from allergies and/or asthma, indoor air quality has become more important to our general health and well-being. It’s especially important this time of year.

Q: Is a large air-conditioner better than a smaller unit?

A: Not necessarily.  A larger air conditioner will always use more electricity as well as cost more to install and upkeep.  The consideration should be finding the proper size air-conditioning unit that will provide efficient energy use and maximum comfort.

Q: Does Deans Professional Plumbing carry anything to help control the humidity in my house?

A: Yes, humidity can be a problem in any home.  The best way to control excessive humidity is to have a system installed that runs to control levels in your home.  We carry humidification and dehumidification systems that keep indoor air at a comfortable level. Check out our Air-Conditioning page for more information.
